Because we were not feeling a hike, we left Flat Top Wilderness and drove to Cow Creek & Rotary Trail near Steamboat Springs. Adam rode his bike for a couple hours, then we hightailed it across Highway 40 towards Dinosaur National Monument. We knew there was a forest service road about 20 minutes into the park that was prime for dispersed camping.
Neither of us had been to this part of the state, though it’s definitely similar to eastern Utah (and we eventually crossed over there to visit the rest of the park). Adam graciously drove the last bit of our travels this day so that I could, once again, hang out the passenger window to take some shots along the drive.

When we got to the forest road, there was only one other van parked in the best spot. Luckily, we were able to find a spot near them that also had an amazing view. While the sunset wasn’t the most epic one I’d seen, it was really beautiful. We were at around 7,000 feet of elevation with very little around, leading to wide open skies.
Just a girl, van camping with her husband, while watching the sun set on the edge of the world. Just wait until you see the rest of the views from the park next week!
Cheers.

Underneath the western skies.
On my Cayuse, let me wander over yonder
Till I see the mountains rise."
Wonderful images. I too like shadows on things.
