Is it possible to get sick of watching the sun dip below the horizon?

When Adam and I were planning our Maui trip, we had a hard time figuring out where to stay. Airbnbs and VRBOs seem reasonable until you see the extra fees tacked on top of the original cost. We read many forums with lists of locals renting their condos. Those websites were so helpful because we stayed for much cheaper and were still within walking distance from the beach.

Why is beach access nice? For sunsets, duh.

This was actually taken from a condo’s balcony. I was too tired our first night to get to the beach for sunset, so I gladly snapped away from the condo.

When we did get down to Kamaole Beach, there were a few kayakers paddling by as the sun set. Right place, right time.

Your moment of zen.

A palm frond silhouette. I’ve definitely taken this same picture at a number of different beaches. This time I lined up the sun with the leaves.

We arrived at the beach a little late, so Adam ran as fast as he could to catch the sun setting through the open mast of this boat. But he didn’t make it. I, instead, stopped earlier to at least get a shadow of the sun behind the island of Lanai.

I turned around to capture the West Maui Mountains at sunset - a little bit of color in those clouds.

You know those Geico commercials about turning into our parents? I thought of that while watching these sunsets because I kept wanting to applaud the sun dipping below the horizon. Like a typical photographer, that’s how much I love sunsets.
