Thanks Will! I didn't know it was on my bucket list until I was there 😂

🙁 Sorry about the lost photos. Have also done that. Sinking feeling. You have lots of memorable photos to compensate.

Recommend rather than cruise ship, book your next Alaska adventure through Alaska Railways. That’s what we did, and it was a GREAT experience and an opportunity to see the wild country without the stress (and limitations) of driving.

So beautiful! I was in Alaska in 2011 and would go back in a heartbeat. So beautiful!

Very, very beautiful. I'm hoping to explore more of the state in the van. There's so much to see.

A wonderful story and beautiful photos. Alaska is one place where I always wanted to visit but never had the opportunity.

The trouble I’m having with following your posts, Rachel, is my places to visit list keeps getting longer and more expensive! What an amazing adventure to an incredible place 👏

Beautiful. I love those islands with trees, trees, and more trees.

So, so green, especially compared to Colorado!

Oh gosh, I have had mishaps with raw images too and hate that! But you truly have some great ones here-- enough to entice me to want to go!

Gorgeous images, I’d love to visit Alaska. And what a shame about losing the RAW files 😖

And speaking of photos not doing a place justice, I’m in the US visiting my husband’s family. We don’t have the time to travel to Colorado, unfortunately. But we did manage to get to Sedona, and my mind was blown 🤯

A beautiful spot for sure! We took an Alaskan cruise for our honeymoon about 7 years ago with my parents and visited the fjords. It was rainy but well worth the time in a small boat. I never knew that Alaska had a rainforest. Great photos!

Wow, what a landscape Rachel. I particularly like the second last BNW image (the one with the waterfall below the lack) - beautiful composition and tonal layers. Is that one of the 5? I would be interested to know how you think your editing has evolved.

Thank you James! The photo you like is not one of the five :) While my editing has evolved, I would probably edit that shot close to the same way. I made the transition (finally) from shooting jpeg to raw (these are all jpegs). I also used different editing software at the time and relied heavily on their premade filters. Now that I'm shooting raw, I have more options for sharpening and adding light or contrast in very specific spots. I wouldn't say there's an extreme difference, but more muted growth - capturing close to what I saw, minus the heavy black and white edits that I favor, lol.

I wouldn't change the edit on that image either - very nice.
