I am old enough to remember when Manitou, was populated (mostly) by dirty hippies; my, how things change. I loved the picture of the incline - props on climbing it twice - I have never been brave enough to try. I understand that the incline is a training method for Olympians, training in the Springs.

We've been here 16 years, and Manitou has changed quite a bit in our time!

Thanks for another fun essay and photos. Reminds me of my days in Ft.. Collins...if you don't like the weather, wait 15 minutes. Gotta love those 30 degree, 30 minute temperature swings!

Been there. Not on that particular hike, but to the Springs. God's Country for sure. There are a couple of posts in my Substack, from more than a year ago, about my various trips there.

Good memories.

Great photos! Gotta say, my favorite is the first one. I can relate because my husband always has to wait in the sun for any delay whatsoever!

That title of the first photo is the greatest thing I've read in a long time! I almost want to change the name of my publication to that!! 🤣😂

I like the color photo of the birds on the wire. Something about how the angle of the wire perfectly matches the angle of the hill slope behind it grabs my attention!

I agree with the bird pic - I think that's why I choose that one for the newsletter. It was a challenge to clean up the lighting as the birds were hidden in the shadows, but it turned out okay in the end!

Difficult to capture the grandeur of mountainscapes, but somehow you almost always succeed. Great photos.

Wanted to say thank you for the pictures of Manitou Springs and Pikes Peak. One can never appreciate those mountain vistas in the beauty of fresh snow on those mountain trails unless you live there. We lived in Loveland Colorado for over 23 years and I fell in love with Colorado.
