Now your trip is looking hot. A dry heat (the best kind but still: too hot is too hot). I found myself thinking, besides of the images themselves, that parasols should make a comeback…
These are all such wonderful images, Rachel. I really like your composition in each of these. I'm guessing that's Adam in the second image? I was struck by how that shot really communicated the scope and scale of what you were experiencing. Thank you for these.
I didn't know the name of many places in Joshua Tree, but I remember the Cholla garden, and the road to Hidden Valley plus a couple of fun rock outcroppings.
I made it early enough to make it to the Cholla gardens before sunrise. They was so spectacular!
I love the tighter shots of the rocks - beautiful! The Fifth Element is awesome - I haven’t seen it for a long time, but your reminder makes me want to watch again!
Too much to take in. Feeling as though all these rugged landscapes slid out of their framework and buried me. Great photos, but I will need to take them in smaller doses. A bit concerned that you are wearing out Adam and he will not survive this adventure.
Beautiful rocks!!
Thanks Shital ❤️
I used to live in that part of the country, yes, it gets VERY hot.
So frustrating that it was a stupid heat wave with temps twenty degrees above average. I wanted to enjoy it 😂
These views of the desert!
Such a beautiful place 😍
Fascinating scenes!

Funny enough, we saw a LOT of Asian tourists with parasols during our trip. They were so much smarter than us 😂
So smart. Maybe I need to have a dark umbrella handy this summer. Portable shade seems worth it.

Thanks Tom - too kind! That is Adam. He gets to be my image context, whether he likes it or not 😂

Oh, I bet the gardens were BEAUTIFUL that early 😍
😀
The scenery is impressive, of course. But I'm not sure I'm capable of such a feat. The heat is an insurmountable barrier for me.
Loved the big heart shaped rock, and so interesting how the old palm fronds help the trees stay cooler in the heat. Thank you!
Thanks Mary! 🙏🏻
So amazing!
Thanks Kevin!

Thanks Todd! The movie graphics don't hold up, but I love the ridiculous cheesiness 😂
These are fantastic shots! I can actually feel the heat through these. 🥵
Thanks Liza! Aaaaand it's not even the hottest day of the trip yet 😭
Ohhh, I’m excited/scared for the next set. Haha
